Heya, it’s been a while.
First and foremost, happy new year to every single one of you who’s reading this post. This year was a mess, but you made it here safe and sound, congratulations. Having said that, let’s discuss how month of December went for us.
Last month, me and Bimbo hosted a bunch of workshops and so it was decided that we should continue working in them, to improve our Host/ Speaker skills. One workshop was quite successful which sadly enough, cannot be said about another. Lots of planning went into it but sometimes it just happens, that you are bound to fail. Luckily enough, it was not me who was preparing this workshop and I was just an observer, but it showed a lot about how people react to large amounts of information in a short period of time. I’ll take that into consideration for my next blog!
Workshops are not the only thing we did, as we were about to take part in an On Arrival Training. It is mandatory for all the volunteers to complete it. Due to a known virus, meeting place changed from a physical location to Online Conference rooms. Was it interesting? In a way, yes. Was it fun? Wouldn’t say it like that. We had wonderful hosts, but some participants left a strange “aftertaste” for some time after the training. However, I do admire motivation and active behaviour of some of the participants, it made half-a-day worth of lectures not feel as tedious, as they could have.
After the OAT, me, Bimbo and our Mentors and NGO staff celebrated Christmas by taking part in Secret Santa gift exchange. It helped us to get to know each other better, as we haven’t disclosed who the “Santa” to every person was and they were able to see the reaction of a person with whom they shared a tiny bit of their Christmas spirit. When the celebrations came to an end, I left the country to spend some time with my family and friends, so that in 2021 I will feel more rested and appreciative of what I have.
Thank you for taking your time to read my blog and I’ll be seeing you in the next one!
