Outdoors Solidarity II

In our country obesity rates and sedentary behaviour among young people aged 14-19 years old is a severe problem. Even dough we have great outdoors, in Harghita we are faced with vicious weather especially during wintertime. In recent years we observe a sharp increase of the use of digital entertainment and a decrease of time spent in outdoors activities among the young people we work with.

Objectives:
1. Raise awareness through 20 outdoors sport activities about the importance of regular physical activity for a healthy lifestyle to min. 250 young people aged 14-19 from the Bilbor, Miercurea Ciuc, Toplita, Joseni and Corbu communities.
2. Contribute to the development of cultural understanding competences among the young people from the 5 communities by using outdoor sport activities as a method of boosting intercultural understanding.
3. Capacitate the two volunteers in using nonformal learning methods in implementing outdoor sport activities with young people aged 14-19 years old.
4. Contribute to the sensitization of the 5 local communities towards solidarity through practicing outdoor sport activities and break cultural barriers regarding foreigners.

The volunteering stage already started, you can read bellow the impressions of the volunteers after one month spent in Miercurea Ciuc
